No Brač, no cruising

All set - it's time for Mljet
Hvar - THE island to explore
February 2, 2015

Okay, so you’ve set your mind upon spending your next holidays in Croatia but you don’t really know where to begin. Luckily, we are here to help! Brač is always a good place to start: one of Croatia’s favourite islands, it will probably get on the top of your list very quickly, too.

If you need more convincing, you should know that Brač is home of many important Croatian cultural and historical institutions, as well as some drop-dead-gorgeous natural sights. A heartbeat away from Split, Omiš and Hvar, it is a popular destination for cruising and island hopping, making it very easy to travel and move around.

The inhabitants of Brač take special pride in the high quality of their stone, which was used to make some of the most important buildings worldwide – the White House being one of them.

The island’s vast landscape and geographical diversity offer endless possibilities to those tickled by wanderlust and need for adventure. If you’ve fallen into a rut recently and are looking for some adventure routes to spice things up, look no further. Why, for example, not explore Brač through the lenses of your snorkeling goggles or cycling glasses? If frolicking along the beach is more your thing, visit the strikingly beautiful Zlatni rat (Golden Cape). Did you know that when you google Croatia or Dalmatia, you are likely to come across dozens of images of Zlatni rat? This famous Croatian landmark is a white pebble beach west of the harbour town Bol on Brač that will leave you breathless. And thanks to the mild sea-breeze wind maestral blowing from the west, it is also the place to be if you are into windsurfing.

If hiking is more to your taste, make your way up to Brač’s highest point, Vidova Gora (778 m), also the highest point of all Adriatic islands. Once you get to the top, you will be rewarded with the most memorable view of the coastline and the sea.
